The RUMI Money Clip project was developed as a premium accessory concept blending modern minimalism with traditional Islamic art. The objective was to create a functional yet luxurious product that reflects the brand’s cultural identity. Inspired by elegance and utility, the clip was designed for everyday sophistication. Every design decision focused on balancing aesthetics with ergonomic usability.

Design Concept & Inspiration

The core concept was derived from classical Arabic geometric patterns, symbolizing harmony, infinity, and precision. I explored historical motifs found in Middle Eastern architecture and manuscripts. These elements were reinterpreted into a contemporary form suitable for a compact metal accessory. The fusion of heritage art with modern product design defined the creative direction.

3D Modeling Process

The money clip was modeled using high-precision subdivision and hard-surface techniques. Clean edge flow and accurate curvature were essential to achieve a realistic manufactured form. Attention was given to clip tension mechanics and thickness for believability. The Arabic pattern was carefully embedded into the surface without compromising structural integrity.

Heritage patterns crafted into a refined, modern luxury money-clip.

Detailing & Pattern Engraving

Intricate engraving work was the highlight of the modeling stage. The Arabic geometric pattern was vectorized and converted into a displacement/boolean workflow. This allowed deep, clean engravings that respond naturally to light. Micro-beveling was added to enhance realism and avoid overly sharp digital edges.

Texturing & Material Development

Texturing focused on premium metallic finishes such as brushed gold, matte black, and polished steel. Procedural maps were used to create subtle surface imperfections and directional grain. Roughness variation helped simulate real manufacturing wear. The engraved patterns were accentuated using contrast shading and reflection control.

Lighting & Rendering

Studio lighting was used to emphasize form, edges, and engraved depth. HDRI environments combined with soft rim lights enhanced the luxury appeal. Close-up macro renders showcased craftsmanship and texture fidelity. The final renders were optimized for both portfolio presentation and brand marketing use.

Brand Identity Integration

The RUMI logo placement was carefully aligned with the geometric flow of the Arabic pattern. Typography and symbol embossing were scaled for visual hierarchy. The final product communicates exclusivity, cultural richness, and refined craftsmanship. This project represents a seamless blend of product visualization and heritage-driven design storytelling.
